1、To revise and expand vocabulary about food and lifestyles.
2、To learn about the relationship between diet and overall health.
3、To practise the technique of skimming for overall comprehension and scanning for detail.
Teaching procedures:
Step1 Guessing game
1. It’s a kind of fruit, if you often eat it , you can keep the doctor away. (apple)
2. It’s a kind of snack. Its colour is brown. It can give you energy. (chocolate)
3. It’s a kind of fruit. The rabbit like eating it. (carrot)
4. It’s a kind of food. It has meat and vegetables between it.
What food are healthy? What are unhealthy?
Step2 Reading
1.Ask students about their diet and lifestyle freely and ask some questions.
①What do you often eat for breakfast/lunch/supper everyday?
②Do you like sugar? Eating too much suger is bad for our teeth?
2. Listen to the tape, and guess: who has a healthy lifestyle, Kitty or Danel?
2. Read Kitty’s article and answer questions:①What does she love doing?②How long does she do that every day?
3. If you are Kitty, complete the passage.
4.Students read Daniel’s article and describe his lifestyle.
Step3 Practice
1. Show pictures of Kitty’s and Daniel’s recipes. Let students describe their recipes. Each student only describe one or two points.
2. Student read two articles loudly and judge some sentences. Ask student to answer and check together.
Step4 Discussion
Discuss in groups: How do we eat and live healthier?
1 We should eat more fruit and vegetables.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away!
2 We should seldom eat fast food like Cola and hamburgers.
3We should do more exercise.
4We should not spend too much time playing computer games.
5 We should get up early and go to bed early.
Step5 Homework
